Lil Wayne’s Sentencing Postponed Due to Courthouse Fire

Just as we reported that Lil Wayne was headed for the slammer, it looks like he is in luck.  The proceedings are postponed due to a courthouse fire.

The building located at 100 Centre St. in New York was evacuated after a fire broke out in the basement at approximately 10:30 a.m.  The cause of the fire is currently unknown.  The New York Fire Department believes that the fire was caused from the boiler, Rolling Stone reports.  However, according to The Associated Press, a court spokesperson believed that it could be traced back to a contractor’s shed.  Five firefighters have reportedly been injured.

Wayne’s lawyer Stacey Richman told MTV News: “We have no idea when things will normalize.”

The building will be closed for the remainder of the day.
