Michael Jackson's Doctor Pleads Not Guilty To Involuntary Manslaughter, Posts Bail

MICHAEL JACKSON's doctor, DR. CONRAD MURRAY, pleaded not guilty Monday to a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the entertainer's death last June.  He entered his plea in a Los Angeles court just hours after he was charged. According to a press release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office, the charge states that the 56-year-old Murray "did unlawfully, and without malice, kill Michael Joseph Jackson…in the commission of an unlawful act...without due caution and circumspection.”

Murray was released after posting 75 thousand dollars bail. He must return to court April 5th for a preliminary hearing. In the meantime, he intends to continue practicing medicine in Nevada and Texas, though the judge on Monday forbade the cardiologist from sedating patients, including administering the powerful anesthetic propofol, a drug that contributed to Jackson's death.

Michael's father JOE, mother KATHERINE and siblings LATOYA, JERMAINE, TITO, JACKIE and RANDY were all present in the courtroom to hear Murray's plea. As Joe left the courtroom, he demanded justice and stated, "My son was murdered." In addition, LaToya issued a statement suggesting Michael was murdered at the hands of multiple people -- a theory that Joe seemed to support during an appearance on CNN's Larry King Live Monday night. The Jackson family received support at the courthouse from fans who awaited Murray's arrival and who also called for justice to be served.  Some called him a "murderer" as he passed on his way into the building.

Murray has admitted that gave Michael the sedative propofol prior to his death. If convicted, he faces a possible maximum four-year state prison term.
