Michael Jackson's Doctor Expected To Be Charged Today

MICHAEL JACKSON's doctor spent the weekend awaiting the inevitable. On Friday, when DR. CONRAD MURRAY's anticipated surrender to authorities was called off, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced it will file charges Monday related to the pop star's death. A district attorney spokeswoman didn't mention Murray by name or detail the impending charges, but according to sources, he'd expected to be charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Prosecutors and Murray's lawyers last week haggled over the conditions of Murray's surrender.  Negotiations fell apart after Murray's attorney insisted his client not be handcuffed when arrested and that he be allowed to remain free on his own recognizance while awaiting arraignment and a bail hearing, terms that prosecutors found unacceptable.  Murray's lawyer then scheduled a news conference at a nearby park, though it was soon canceled.

Michael's brother, JERMAINE JACKSON, is pleased with the DA's decision not to allow Murray to surrender.  He tells Entertainment Tonight, "I think [Murray] should be cuffed, he should be fingerprinted, he should have his mugshot just like they did my brother," a reference to Michael Jackson's arrest and 2005 trial on child molestation charges. Jackson was acquitted of all charges.

Murray has been the focus of the investigation into the singer's death. He has admitted he gave Michael the powerful anesthetic propofol, a drug that contributed to the King of Pop's death.
